Cupid on a Killing Spree

by Trey Garcia

Cupid went on a killing spree,

He was fed up with the whole Love scene,

Half the couples he had brought together

Were just no longer working out,

Divorces leading to greed,

Settlements, alimony,

Fights over who gets the armoire

And who gets the keys to the car —

With not one person caring about

What has become of the Heart,

So Cupid's arrows started to become real,

No longer invisible

His wings gave way to razorblades,

Cutting off heads as he flew,

I ducked real fast, but he got you,

I saw Cupid laughing, flying away,

Happy with the carnage he left in his wake,

I saw Cupid crying, hoping with a tear

Upon the bloody plains he'd left us to rake

That maybe Love would grow again.
