Somewhere between the ethereal and the worldly exists reality. You cannot have one without the other and maintain balance. Easily I can blink my eyes and find that I am floating away into the invisible, or just as easily, I can find myself trapped within the confines of social conflict, losing my sense of natural purpose and direction.
Literary reflections of intangible passion and inescapable outcomes can help restore a sense of internal balance. When I feel I cannot relate to those closest in my life, I am able to find my release within a story or a character whose essence draws me. Within this literary escapism, I may find myself closer to the realization of my own truth.
It is within this literary world, as the writer and as the reader, that I have recently found solvency, and I have used this mental road as a path for seeking restoration for my own imbalances. Within this issue of Invasive Thoughts, we are highlighting these experiences of losing and restoring--or restoring and losing--balance in body and mind as illustrated through the actions, the fantasies, and the explanations of those who utilize the art of working with the human spirit. While interacting with this theme and this material, linked by the invisible truths, a new eye has evolved in looking at my own search for internal balance.
