Ice Heart Sculpted by Reverend Butter

For this edition of Invasive Thoughts dot Com, we sent out a request for contributions for the theme, HEART. Contributions could be of any nature, representative of what the word meant to each person. We received a great return!

Included are poems of love, spanning romantic adoration to familial pride and sentiment. One poem is dedicated to the legendary accordionist Esteban Jordan, who continues to perform in San Antonio each Friday at Salute, even though health issues and age force him to take frequent breaks. There are paintings by San Antonio artists Cody Stewart, and Joe Lopez of Gallista Gallery. And there are stories of heart health and heart attack.

When we decided to put forth the theme, we didn’t know whether the content would be solely reflective of love, but we joyfully see that the HEART is representative of so much more; it represents love and longing, but also pride, strength, determination, legendary souls, health, and the plight of people.

The ice heart in the photograph on this page was sculpted by Reverend Butter at an ice sculpting challenge in San Antonio on the East side at Gevers Street Studio. To read and see a slideshow of the event, click here:
