LAY STILL

Breathe deeply
stone cold
pretend you’re
unaware
he will
the night is dark
towering presence
trust broken
Sleep comes
dreaming
mind awakens
secrets
trapped in the soul
no relief no peace
Wrestling with
reality
a child’s untold
stories
in the waking
silence
there is pain
Cope
with frozen
emotions
powerless painted
marble face
cracking
lonely vulnerable
Lay still…
perhaps you don’t
exist
