Poetry by Thom Moon 10

slap of a hand, fist or a frying pan cord

sticks broken on our baby backs when we

cried or tended to disagree

with a drunken father who married shotgun me

exit to a broken world to see

so many others abused singularly/collectively

it gave me this sharpened tongue to be

sword and shield against blind authority

in every transaction-intersection choice

to bear silence or articulate with voice

a better way to be even if by distance

so power does not become a virus

tyranny is tiny tinfoil tin-pot dissonance

scratched record arms with holes/disobedience

is one way to create a new freedom

to break down the patriarchal unexplained patterns

abuse a vulture that feeds upon the weak

can be limited when you sing out and speak

SHOUT!
