Ethan Frome, Edith Wharton, 1911;This is probably one of my all time favorite books. Surprisingly, we didn’t learn too much in high school nor did we do much work, but we did read this book. I think it was my JR year and I just loved the love story, how the characters came full circle in ways they couldn’t have imagined.
Divine Comedy, Dante, Before I was ever thought of;Okay, so I haven’t read the entire catalogue, but these stories are great. If I ever need to evoke an emotion, whether it be a laugh or a tear, I can rely on these stories.
Reviving Ophelia,Mary Elizabeth Pipher, the 90’s;Any mother of a daughter should read this interesting journey which travels into the lives and minds of adolescent girls, and their development, stopping to visit the sometimes transparent parents who made them the way they are.
Not for Sale, David Batstone, 2007;WOW! Did this book open my eyes about human trafficking all over the world. Extreme stories of sex slaves and those on the move to abolish this cyclical system we “privileged” know too little about.
Any book I read with my kiddo is one of my favorites, and although I do not specifically have a favorite we read together because there are many, just having the memories of that time together is something I see as not meant for words.
